Theft Crimes
Theft crimes consist of a wide group of offenses that involve the taking of another person’s property without permission. A person can be charged with a theft crime whether or not they permanently steal another person’s property or simply temporarily take and use another person’s property. Accordingly, many crimes fall into this category, including burglary, robbery, receiving stolen property, embezzlement, auto theft, forgery, larceny, credit card theft and identity theft. Getting arrested, charged or convicted of a drug crime can have lasting damage on your reputation, employment and immigration status.
However, being charged with a theft crime does not mean that you are actually guilty of a theft crime.
